ABOUT THE SHOW: Jane Eyre revitalized the classic novel by centering East Asian culture and a sapphic romance. It outlines the life of protagonist Jane Eyre until young adulthood when she takes on the role of governess within a wealthy estate. This alternate history adaptation drew inspiration from pieces like Hamilton and Bridgerton in order to explore the intersectionality of colonialism, feminism, and racism in a classic text. The show ran for one weekend at Playwrights Horizons Downtown.
